Is the Apple IPad for you?

I would like to see a discussion started here about whether or not you think the IPad is the device for you or not. Let us know what you think and why or why not.

I have posted a comment on the last post with my thoughts. I feel that the IPad would make a good addition for me, for content consumption. I do not feel that it will replace my netbook since I sometimes need to run multiple applications at once and typing on the IPad for lengthy posts or documents would be irritating, and uncomfortable. As for listening to music that’s what my Iphone and Ipod are for. But first thing in the morning reading the paper and kicking back surfing the web or checking facebook on the couch, The Ipad would be great. Watching movies in 720p would be nice as well. I also would make good use of the e-reader built in. So all in all I like it, it wont replace any devices i have now, but would be a great addition to my arsenal for easy and fast access to the content that I am hungry for at the moment.

Exactly it doesn't seem right for normal use. But I like the selling point that if you dock it in your bedroom, it's an alarm clock, dock it in the living room and it's a digital picture frame, doc it in the kitchen, and it's a recipe book (which I really like since I get most of my recipes online these days and with a small kitchen, my laptop takes up too much counter space). And the reader would be cool. But other than that, I don't see any advantages it really has over my laptop. And way more expensive.

I am considering buying the iPad just for the ebook useabillity – I travel a lot and do a lot of reading aboard planes and hotel rooms – one iPad will weigh much less than the typical 2 or 3 books I take along – not to mention that I will have access to complete series of books (read fantasy story lines) so continuity is important – I just wish that the iPad would be more a iPhone with phone capability – a camera would be nice but is not important to me – and as an appliance multitasking is also not important – it isn't perfect and the price points should reflect Kindle prices – but overall there is a lot of appeal to the product
