SP3, forest moon or death star!

XP SP# has been quite the troublesome package. when almost ready to release it broke the daylight savings patch, when released it caused rebooting, a lot. The latest is that after you install it you might not be able to install any more patches. If it stopped the bad guys from installing bad things too this would be ok. Lucky for us some industrious people with time on their hands found an answer. your can read the whole things at the Microsoft newsgroup page. Just to be helpful I am going to list it here also. But the credit goes to Grega for posting it on the newsgroup.

Open Start, Run, and run these commands, one by one:

net stop wuauserv
regsvr32 /s wuapi.dll
regsvr32 /s wuaueng1.dll
regsvr32 /s wuaueng.dll
regsvr32 /s wucltui.dll
regsvr32 /s wups2.dll
regsvr32 /s wups.dll
regsvr32 /s wuweb.dll

net start  wsaus

Be sure to reboot after this so that the changes take effect.

Next time you open Windows/Microsoft Update, you should have no problems
installing new updates.
